As a visual artist, Kwest began drawing and painting out of pure passion and interest. He found he was able to generate something of his own volition and began to be recognized for his creativity. Kwest conveys a variety of socially relevant themes commenting on urban life, political and cultural events.
Kwest draws on his development as a graffiti artist, but covers a far-reaching range of topics. Motivated by themes such as love, oppression, freedom, cultural heritage, and history. He also magnifies urban issues with his cityscapes and street scenes, conveying a subtle documentation of everyday life.
His process depicts a sense of energy and urgency, yet he works from specific ideas in each work of art. His work at times is expressionistic, moving from loose, broad marks toward more refined depictions. Kwest also works with other media including collage, and aerosol. He works as a freelance artist, doing live painting at community events, creating murals for youth programs and schools, and producing several series of paintings for exhibition. Kwest hopes to continue to enhance his skills as an artist to uplift others.
